There’s so much to think about it.
There’s so much tragedy going on in the world.
People are dying, people are fighting, people are angry, people are starving.
This pandemic has taken a toll on so many people’s lives. Some people lost loved ones. Some people have lost jobs and don’t know how they’re going to pay bills, or fees their families.
People are protesting for their lives. Tired of being hunted down by police. Tired of hundreds of years of injustice.
There’s too much going on. It’s scary. What can a person do?
I’m finding my solace at home, with my family.
It saddens me to think that people don’t have an escape.
My escape is turning off my social medias, putting my phone away and just being around my family. My home. It’s an easy escape I’ve been doing for years.
But sometimes people can’t turn it off. You can’t turn off a pandemic, or racial injustice. Black people can’t turn off being targeted.
So my luxury of being able to escape sometimes feels unfair. Like I’m turning a blind eye to what’s going on. But I have to preserve what I have left of my mentality. My emotional well-being depends on isolation. The less I see, the better I feel.
What are you doing for your emotional health?
